I Was the Kid Who Was Never Homesick
I’ve got a leg up on most of you in travel. I was born to a pilot father and foreign mother. I grew up here in the U.S., speaking French at home and traveling regularly to Switzerland, my mother’s native country. My sister and I would spend whole summers in Europe with our relatives. And let’s put it this way: I was the kid who was never homesick.
Nice, France
Other than that, I think I simply have a huge appetite for fun and adventure. And a pragmatic view of any corporation’s interest in reciprocating anyone’s loyalty or dedication (read: zero). Combined with my lifelong exposure to European values (e.g., a minimum four weeks’ vacation per year) and an appreciation for foreign languages, I have evolved into the freelance-working, life-loving person that I am.
I am the freelanceafarian.
P.S. This doesn’t mean I don’t work. It means I make an effort to find room in my life for things other than work. You can too.
